IoTAthena: Unveiling IoT Device Activities From Network Traffic

The recent spate of cyber attacks towards Internet Things (IoT) devices in smart homes calls for effective techniques to understand, characterize, and unveil IoT device activities. In this paper, we present a new system, named IoTAthena, activities from raw network traffic consisting timestamped IP packets. IoTAthena characterizes each activity using an signature ordered sequence packets with inter-packet time intervals. has two novel polynomial algorithms, sigMatch xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">actExtract . For any given signature, can capture all matches the traffic. Using as subfunction, accurately various heterogeneous collected at router real-world home testbed public dataset, demonstrate that is able characterize generate signatures
